Rash Be Gone     On: 2010-03-04

After several weeks of a rash that would scab and bleed that I couldnt get rid of ~ I decided it must be something I am eating or using. I have always had a serious allergic reaction to Tide but never Gain up until now ~ I starting searching the internet and came Charlies Soap so I gave it a try. Rash was gone after running my clothes through a Charlie cycle ~ I love this product.
The Best Laundry Soap Ever!     On: 2010-03-02

Charlies Soap Powder is simply the best laundry soap ever. You use just a tiny bit, so it is very economical, the powder dissolves readily, so you dont have to pay all of the extra shipping for a product that contains a lot of water. It rinses absolutely clean so there are no residues, no rashes, no allergic reactions on sensitive skin... I have always gotten rashes from laundry soap, but not with Charlies soap. My babys cloth diapered little butt is absolutely pristine.

Also, Charlies soap REALLY works, unlike some environmentally-friendly soaps, it really gets your clothes and cloth diapers clean clean clean! And, it doesnt strip color like one environmentally-friendly all-natural laundry soap I have tried. It gets my husbands work clothes clean, it gets the diapers clean, and it gets the dishrags clean. Charlies soap is simply the best, and the most economical of any all-natural hypoallergenic laundry product I have ever tried. (And with my sensitive skin, I have tried a lot of them!) I used to hate doing laundry, and now I love it. I couldnt recommend Charlies soap more highly! Charlies Soap Powder - 2.64 lb Bag (80 Loads)
Best Cleaner for Clothes     On: 2010-02-28

This is good stuff, doesnt leave a film on clothes. They smell clean. Wont go back to grocery brand detergent.
great, but gave rash     On: 2010-02-24

i would love to give this detegent 5 stars for thoroughly cleaning my daughters cloth diapers (both fuzzi bunz and also bumgenius) but after about 3 weeks worth of laundry, my daughter developed a SERIOUS rash...i had to wait it out using disposables (non-chlorine)...it finally went away and i switched detergents...it hasnt come back yet. i mayy try charlies once more to see if in fact the rash was definitly related to it...but she is exclusively bf and is only 2 months, so no food or formula to factor it. lets see..ill update in about a month if i can remmeber :)
Good soap - BUT NO INGREDIENTS DISCLOSED.     On: 2010-02-20

This soap works great, but I cant positively support ANYTHING that refuses to disclose its ingredients - AT ALL. All I can find out is what it is NOT (at least as claimed - and hence imo totally meaningless). With ALL the horror stories we are learning of about products these days that weve been using, it baffles me why any company would still keep the facts from us. I just cant accept that anymore - NOT in THIS day and age. Whats being hidden? Whats the deal? We have a right to know what we bring into our homes, and expose ourselves and our children to. A LOT of products work TOTALLY GREAT that I will no longer use. It sounds friendly enough (good ole Charlies Soap). Well, just show me. Thats ALL I ask.
This product does everything it claims     On: 2010-02-15

I initially purchased this to clean cloth diapers. This stuff is awesome! I have extremely hard water, and many of my white diapers were tinged yellow because of rust. Charlies Soap took care of it and made them white again. I use it on all the familys laundry. Everything comes out so clean and fresh smelling. I had been using homemade laundry detergent, but this is well worth the extra cost. (Its not even that expensive.) It works better than Tide or any other name/store brand/homemade detergent that I have ever used.

My husband had also contacted the company to ask them for some tips when using this product with hard water. I dont think that we have ever worked with a company that offered better customer service. This company is amazing - extremely genuine and friendly. In this day and age, this is becoming so rare. We were very impressed with them.

Id definitely recommend this to anyone. I love it so much that I had went ahead and purchased the 5 gallon bucket!
Go ahead and order two and get the free shipping.     On: 2010-02-15

I first learned about this laundry powder on a travel site, looked at more reviews, then ordered some through amazon because there are allergy problems in my family. Its recommended for allergies and for cloth diapers. Ive been using it several weeks and I like it. You need to use a double amount initially to clean the washer before washing your clothes. Then for washing clothes that have previously been washed with regular detergents, use a double amount the first couple of times as the Charlies works on removing the residues left in the clothes before it works on anything else. After that, one little scoop (1 tablespoon) is all thats needed for most users. Ive noticed that the clothes that have been washed with Charlies several times are softer than the others, towels are especially softer and more absorbent. Their website has a lot of detailed information on using this product. Fabric softener is not needed or recommended for use with it. Bleach, borax, and stain pretreaters are OK to use if needed, but other than the tiny amount of bleach Ive always used just for killing germs with towels, I dont usually use anything else with it. Charlies is low suds and is recommended for any type of washer including HE.

This soap is technically a detergent, but without the additives found in most laundry detergents. I love the way my clothes feel and smell, actually they dont have any smell at all. This product is easy to measure and dissolves and rinses out well. It comes packaged in a plastic bag inside a little cloth drawstring bag, very compact but does lots of loads. I also like their all purpose cleaner and might order the package deal that includes a gallon of cleaner from the charliesoap website next time. Their products are environmentally safe and made in the USA. They also make a liquid laundry detergent that I have not tried.
Charley's Soap Powder     On: 2010-02-07

I sent this detergent to my daughter in law who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Laundry detergent is scarce and difficult for our troops to come by and she sent out a request. She says that this detergent works wonderfully! She also appreciated that its an old fashioned and organic compound. I will be sending her more.
Blew my expectations away!     On: 2010-02-07

First, let me say that this soap blew all my expectations out of the water! I originally wanted to purchase it for baby diapers and wipes for stain removal/safe cleaning, but the little one had not yet come when I ordered this product.

My first trial after the "toxic residue of other products" removal pre-treatment that is recommended was on dog bedding. Not overly stinky bedding, but doggy-smelling just the same. I read other reviews where people commented on using less-than-the-reccommended amount, so I tried half a scoop. When I retrieved the clothing from the washer, I noticed something very strange. Nearly ALL the dog hair that had adhered to the bedding was stuck to the sides of the washer, in clumps. This has never happened to me before. It would also be irritating, BUT it actually made it really easy to remove the hair before the bedding went into the dryer. I had also experimented in the past with not using dryer sheets, but found myself pulling dog-hair covered bedding out of the dryer. So, you really dont have to use dryer sheets with this soap. I ended up with clean smelling, hair free bedding. What more could you ask for?

So, minus the 2 pre-treatment scoops the soap calls for, I think I can almost halfen the usage amount to make about 150 loads, which equals about 8 cents of soap per load. For clean smelling, soft clothes WITHOUT harsh chemicals or residues, this is GREAT! And who needs flowery-smelling clothing? Like the bag says, "If you want flowers, go pick some".
Does what no other laundry soap has ever been able to do for me     On: 2009-12-13

I work out 6 days a week and as my fellow runners and gym-goers know, the specialized material used in workout clothes will hold that sweaty BO stench better than anything else.

Ive tried everything on the market and the only thing that was working was soaking my workout clothes in oxi-clean for 24 hours and then washing them (sometimes twice). Which was ridiculous.

My friend told me about this soap and let me take a little bit home to give it a try and ONE wash (no pre-soak) with 1 tbsp of this soap and my workout clothes were the cleanest theyve EVER been. Absolutely no trace of any smell to them. I still cant believe this.

Im ordering a bag of it today and highly recommend it for anyone with challenging laundry! Or for that matter, any laundry at all! At 1 tbsp per load, its the most economical laundry soap out there!
Great stuff!     On: 2009-12-09

I love this product. Theres little to no residue left on clothes and the smell is...clean without being fragranced. Buy it and youll be hooked.
WILL BE PURCHASING AGAIN AND AGAIN :)     On: 2009-12-08

BEFORE I found this on amazon and read reviews I was looking into recipes to make my own laundry soap, now I will not have to...this is fabulous and I plan my next purchage to buy the large bucket..I hope they do not change anything even the packaging...I also buy the all purpose cleaner..my home no longer cantaines and other chemicles ,these 2 items do it all ..I havent tried it on windows.
Awesome laundry soap     On: 2009-12-07

My daughter and husband have sensitive skin. Even the free and clear detergents created problems. A friend suggested I try Charlies, and Im so glad I did. It is the best. It rinses completely away leaving nothing but clean clothes. I use it with a front loader machine with no problems.
A wonder soap     On: 2009-12-06

An all purpose soap. The cost per load is very low. It is the most effective and the most gentle product I have used.
Laundry, the best window cleaner I have found, a degergent to make water stones for knife sharpening more effective, cleaning of delicate optics, cleaning wounds, including the inside of my eyelids are a few of its uses. For the later applications, a teaspoon per gallon of distilled water and 5:1 to 50:1 further dilution works well. The law precludes Charlie making this claim without very expensive proof: I have found no problems - How could such a small amount cause harm? - and it seems to be the most effective and safest such product. I believe this a complete replacement for much more expensive laundry detergent and dish washing without the harmful additives. I could have important medical uses.
Best wishes Charle!
I have become a fan     On: 2009-12-04

I was really skeptical when I first purchased the laundry powder, but now I have really become a fan. I like the concentrated cleaning power although I do use two scoops (rather than one as recommended) for each load in my extra-large capacity washer. I feel its well worth the money and have purchased two additional bags.
Perfect for cloth diapering     On: 2009-11-18

My sister-in-laws local cloth diapering boutique recommended this soap to wash our cloth diapers, when the store selling the brand I was previously using went out of business. It works great! The bag is small but so little soap is required that it lasts a long time. I actually wash all our clothing in it. I would recommend it for infant clothes, cloth diapers, and even regular adult clothing.
Great Laundry Soap     On: 2009-11-18

I really enjoy this product. They claim that clothes are softer after washed with it; they are right! Plus it is better for the environment than detergent.
Halfway Through First Bag.... Loving it!     On: 2009-11-09

I purchased Charlies Soap Powder because I have two grandbabies on the way and thought Id wash our baby blankets and such with Charlies. I also have two little guys with sensitive skin of my own who I thought may benefit from this soap.

After receiving the bag I did as instructed and ran a load to clean the washer. After doing this I did not want to ruin that cleaning by using my old detergent, so Ive used Charlies exclusively for about 40 loads.

I did have to purchase some stain remover spray to tackle tough stains (which were left over by my old detergent) such as grass and dirty knees in my little ones jeans (All of these stains have finally been removed!). I must say, Charlies soap powder works just as well as (or better than) Tide. The scent (of clean) is actually more pleasant than that of other "main stream" flowery scented detergents.

My clothes seem "puffier" and softer. Colors are actually quite vivid now. I actually gave the old detergent away, Im so happy with the Charlies that I dont think Ill ever go back the old detergent!

I highly recommend this product for all your washing!
Great for cloth diapers     On: 2009-10-26

I love this soap! Ive only had it for a week, but my stinky cloth diapers already smell 10 times better after only 2 washes in Charlies soap. I had been using Allens Naturally liquid detertent, but with my HE washing machine, the Allens would never completely rinse out of the diapers. Great product!
Love this stuff!     On: 2009-10-19

Awesome product! Leaves clothes clean and soft. Great for our bum genius cloth diapers too. I love that we have a detergent that is good for our clothes and that works on our baby stuff too! We will be buying this item for years to come! Thanks
Great Laundry Soap!     On: 2009-10-19

I was surprised at how well this soap cleaned and softened. I tried it because of the other reviews that I had read and I couldnt believe that a laundry detergent could soften clothes without a fabric softener - but I was wrong!! I does work without any type of fabric softener, liquid or dryer sheets. I have a front loading washer and it works perfectly. My clothes come out of the dryer with barely a wrinkle! When you take into consideration the price per bag and how many loads you can do (and yes you DO just use one tablespoon) plus the fact you dont have to purchase a seperate fabric softener, youre saving a bundle!!! AND your clothes look and feel better too. Good old fashioned clean!! I definitely will purchase this again. If your on the fence, give it a try. I think youll be pleasantly surprised.
Love Charlie's Soap     On: 2009-09-24

Ive been using Charlies soap powder for a couple years now. I started using it for the cloth diapers... believe me I tried all kinds of different detergents in different amounts, but found Charlies is the only one that works to keep the soap and "stink" from building up on the diapers. Because it works so well Ive been using it on all our laundry, even our newborns. I love that you use so little per load so the bag is really small to store next to my washer. Also feels great to be using something all natural. I even run the wash water out to my plants!
Best laundry soap ever!     On: 2009-09-22

My husband installs solar thermal (hot water) systems and is constantly getting unknown crud on his clothes from being in attics, cellars, etc. He only wears Carhartts and cotton tees to work and they have never come clean. His pants and socks were never soft. I used Charlies on his work clothes and it not only got out new stains, it got out old stains and softened his once crunchy socks and Carhartts! I used it on my clothes (which are not super dirty) and our sheets and towels. Everything came out clean and super soft, I am so impressed. It is unscented so I used fabric softener for the scent, it is not necessary for softening. I will be a lifelong Charlies laundry soap user and recommend it heartily.
love this soap     On: 2009-07-04

I bought this soap because its highly recommened for cloth diapers, and they were rite, it works wonerful, i also use it on my clothes, it makes them clean and super soft, I have very sensitive skin to, and it doesnt give me rashes or itchy skin, and it doesnt smell strong.
Charlie's Soap     On: 2009-06-29

I love that you use such a small amount of this soap and that it cleans so well. It is not the best on tough stains but for regular laundry washing its excellent.
Great product     On: 2009-06-16

Love this for our cloth diapers. We use very small amount of powder and diapers are staying clean and bright.
Clean clothes     On: 2009-06-02

This detergent really gets the dirt out of our clothes. The first time we used it we were shocked at how dirty the water got. Its also a great value because such a little bit is needed.
Laundry powder     On: 2009-05-27

This stuff is really great. Clothes look cleaner and no fabric softener is needed any longer.
Wonderful and cost effective!     On: 2009-05-26

My husband and I have been using charlies soap for about 5 months now, and are only on our second 2.64 lb bag. It works great, and is eco-friendly. All our clothes and linens have come out fresh and clean. It is also great on our wallet, since you only need one small scoop per load it lasts forever! Highly recommended!
Wonderful Product!     On: 2009-05-21

Im sold; never going to buy any other brand of laundry soap again. You know that smell clothes can get after leaving them in the washing machine too long? Gone with Charlies Soap. Our clothes have never looked or smelled so clean. Im buying more to give to my married, and college-age sons. Environmentally friendly and works beautifully; what more can you ask for?
Tide Gal Converted!     On: 2009-05-06

I am super picky about laundry soap. I have been a "Tide Only" person for years because I just cant stand to ruin good clothes with stains. I held by breath when I decided to try this alternative to standard laundry soap. It works wonderfully and even cleans better than Tide. My husbands uniforms are cleaner than they have ever been! I have hard water, so it was recommended that I use slightly more than a scoop. I also have a front loader and it works great with it. I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it.
Excellent     On: 2009-05-01

This is my first time using this soap and I have to say it met and exceeded my expectations. I thought that it would be just "average" but I figured Id try it just to make sure. Wow, a little bit goes a very long way!! My clothes come out clean and there is a clean scent all over the clothes. I use 1 tablespoon for small-medium loads and two tblsps. for large loads and it cleans everything! Give this a try.
Amazing Product! Actually does what it claims!     On: 2009-02-03

About a year ago I was desperate. I was trying so hard to find something that would get my husbands uniforms clean. He is a garbage man and comes home covered in so much mistery grime it isnt funny. I had tried Tide, All, store brands, and every type of color safe bleach and pretreater out there. Nothing worked. His work clothes would still be heavily stained, and there were times he would come home on a rainy day saying his clothes reaked as soon as they had gotten wet.

I decided to do net search. I came across a lot of posts from diaper sites saying how great Charlies was and how clean everything came and how well it removed the smell. Although I was not in search of a diaper detergent, I figured if it could clean those well enough maybe it would work for my problem. I went to their website and checked out their products and the information on them. I am so happy I did.

Charlies truly does clean. My husbands clothes come out virtually stain free. Which is not bad considering what he gets on himself. The odor problem stopped too. I can use it on all of our laundry from delicates to play clothes, so there is no need for me to have multiple products lying around. It is made to work in Regular or HE machines, so when I switched my machines I did not have to find a new brand.

Other added benefits are: you do not need fabric softener, it is one of the safest detergents on the enviornment, it actually helps keep our clothes almost like new, and it is absolutely awesome for our sensitive skin. In addition to that, it safely maintains the flame retardency of childrens sleep wear and maintains the properties of many other types of working gear as well. It is also very cost effective. It costs less per load than All, Tide, Seventh Generation, and many others. You will also get a better clean than you would with any of the afore mentioned.

The company is also extremely customer orientated. They still practice the almost gone tradition of actually caring about their customers. With any purchase they offer free literature giving advice on hard water, diapers, and first time users (if ordered through them directly). Just make sure you check what literature you need on their order form. They will also answer any questions you may have.

Many have not heard of Charlies. Many will ask if it is so great why isnt advertised nation wide. Well, they are an old fashioned company. They believe word of mouth is far more important than some fancy expensive advertising gimic. Anyone can advertise anything, but only the best products achieve gradual fame through word of mouth. Charlies Soap is one of those products.

I have tried other detergents that claim to do what Charlies does. One of those being Country Save, but there is nothing I have found that cleans as well as Charlies soap.

I know it seems I am really excited about this product. Well, I am and I always will be. For the first time, I found a product that does what it says it does. "It really cleans." When was the last time you could say that about a product?

I urge you to give this a try. Whether you are very enviornmentally conscious, want your clothes really clean, have sensitive skin, are in the military and can not use optical brighteners, or just want your moneys worth, than this is for you. Youve got nothing to lose by giving it a try.

great, inexpensive solution     On: 2009-01-01

I love this soap. I found out about it only from researching natural, economical soap solutions but knew no one whod tried it around here. So I took a chance and ordered a few bags. After several months of use I can say it does a great job cleaning. It didnt do much for old stains but it does a great job with new potential ones - being on a small farm weve run the gamut of spots from food, dirt, animal wastes, blood, and equipment grime. I love how clean everything looks and smells.

You may not believe the instructions (one scoopful, scooper is buried in the bag so look for it) but trust them! I am using the soap in an HE washer too. I dont think I will ever go back to conventional laundry soap.

Instead of using the bag, I fill a large size plastic yogurt container, cleaned and dried, and use that to store the powder. I find it easier to open and scoop that way.
We love Charlie's Soap!     On: 2008-12-26

Shipping was quicker than ordering direct from Charlies Soap, and its an economical, effective, and green laundry soap.
THE BEST LAUNDRY SOAP I'VE EVER USED     On: 2008-12-17

Sometimes a complete accident will lead you to a mainstay product you just cant live without. I found out about this stuff about a year ago on a vegan website where they were discussing cruelty-free laundry detergent, and one person recommended this. I do too. You truly dont need to use more than 1 TBS per load, and this should mean a lot coming from a person who used to use twice as much detergent as she needed to. My clothes dont come out smelling flowery (if you want flowers, go outside and pick them), just clean, and this stuff is also good for heavy duty cleaning, too. Its now the only laundry soap I use, and I recommend it to everyone.
Love this detergent! Use it in my massage therapy practice!     On: 2008-09-16

LAUNDRY POWDER

Ive been using Charlies Soap powder for years to get my massage therapy linens clean. It is equally important for me that my detergent be odor-free and safe for sensitive skin. I highly recommend this product!
Gets the job done!     On: 2008-08-04

My wife bought this for the cloth diapers we use for my daughter. It was recommended to her by a friend. We now use it for all of our laundry. It cleans well, smells good and for the amount you use per load (1 Tsp.) it makes it worth it cost wise. Ive also used the all purpose cleaner with similar results. Excellent!
Fabulous!     On: 2008-03-05

I absolutely love Charlies!
I also use their stain remover (all purpose cleaner), and it has removed everything I put it on.

I use a vinegar rinse instead of fabric softener (as recommended by the company) and have not had any rash or ammonia smell issues from my daughters cloth diapers.

If I were you, I would buy this!
This stuff is fabulous!     On: 2008-02-11

I switched to Charlies because the difference was noticeable. My clothes feel like velvet after removing them from the dryer. The ammonia-like smell in my daughters cloth diapers-- GONE. That was with one wash. I used to wash several times in very hot water (with and without detergent). Not anymore. Ive also noticed less buildup on the wash machine lid. I hardly have to clean my machine now! I know this soap has had mixed reviews on other sites, but it works great with our water and it really feels good to know that were using an environmentally safe product.
charlie's soap     On: 2007-12-06

I love this laundry soap. You only need to use a tablespoon, and a small bag lasts for 80 loads. We have a very small apartment, and this stuff takes up so much less shelf space than regular liquid detergents. It works great and has NO additives, so it is perfect for washing our babys cloth diapers, but also works well on all of our laundry.
A great laundry soap with no additives or perfumes!     On: 2007-11-20

I absolutely love this laundry soap. It works with all temperatures and with all kinds of laundry, from lingerie to work clothes. The best part is that it has no additives, perfumes or other ingredients that can cause allergies. Its great at getting out stains and a little goes a long way. Only 1 tablespoon is needed for a full load, so it lasts a long time. I highly recommend this laundry soap!
Awesome product     On: 2007-08-03

this is great for laundering cloth diapers. it doesnt leave oils or residue (like other detergents) which can build up on cloth diapers. it actually helps get some of those oils and residues out. i switched from using dr. bronners soaps to launder cloth diapers to using charlies soap and it has been a HUGE improvement. i love dr. bronners, but the oils in the castile soap left my daughters diapers less absorbant. i noticed a big difference after just a couple washes with charlies soap. it takes care of any foul odors as well, and leaves the cloth diapers soft and you can tell they get clean! good feeling to the skin :)

this is a really good price for the item listed as well. other sites list the same product for twice as much.
